Lately

The weekend of our one year anniversary we were home visiting family in Wyoming, so we celebrated the next weekend in Idaho Falls. We went to a cute little restaurant called the Snakebite. It was really yummy, and I had my first (I think) Italian soda, which was delicious, and then we had yummy burgers.
We went shopping at JCPenny to get Sam some socks (he's very particular ;), and then we started browsing the clearance racks. He picked out a bunch of really cute shirts for me to try on, and I ended up getting like six new shirts because my awesome in-laws gave us a gift card for Christmas to JCP. Shopping success. It was also a lot of fun to play runway with Sam. :)
And we stayed at Destinations Inn which is about the coolest hotel ever. We stayed in the Egypt themed room. I wish I had taken more pictures of it. There was a sauna and a jacuzzi and a big projector that hooked up to a DVD player. It was super fun.

 My fancy hairdo

They left sparkling cider and cheesecake for us when we got there.

As well as a fancy note. After being married a year, my last name still surprises me haha.

We brought along the top of our wedding cake that my mother so kindly stored in her freezer for us all year. Looks weird right?

It tasted weird too. ;)

And I'm not sure how I missed photos of this, but they delivered breakfast to us in the morning. We ate it in bed before heading out. It was such a fun getaway!

Also, my brother had called me up the night before and told us he was coming to visit! We came home Saturday to find he and his girlfriend in good ole' Rexburg.
Lan and I made truffles Saturday while Amanda hung out with some friends and Sam did homework.
We went ice skating that night, which was an adventure.

And afterwords we came home, drank cocoa, and played King of Tokyo till late. It was awesome to have them in town!

Before they came I had made German chocolate upside down cake. It was so good that I literally ate it for breakfast most of the week. Oops :) And then Lan ate the last of it while we were at church Sunday morning!  I was so upset! The next day I was getting ready to make toast for breakfast, and found the rest of the cake in the toaster cupboard! Yay for Lan not eating all my cake! Yay for cake for breakfast for another week!!

The ext weekend I went shopping at DI for container for my numerous plants. Here's what I found.

A sign I found while shopping. Except it should say till your mom and husband can't find it. Then it's lost and gone forever.

And here are a few of the succulents I planted. I posted them on a Facebook page and sold some, too!

I sold these ones and some that I made that were similar to them.

On Valentine's weekend one of Sam's friends from growing up got married in Denver. We drove to Utah Thursday afternoon (yay for lots of teachers gone on a field trip) and stayed the night with Sam's sister and her family. We played games, ate good food, and loved on their little boys that evening before flying out to Denver the next morning.
The flight was super cool, especially with the inversion going on in the Salt Lake Valley. When we popped out about all the smog it was beautiful and looked like we were flying really low over a snow-covered valley surrounded by the tiniest mountains. It was sweet.
When we arrived we were starving, so we found this little hole in the wall restaurant downtown called Steuben's.
The weather in Denver was gorgeous. Neither of us put a coat on once while we were there. This little restaurant had two big garage doors on the wall facing the street, and they had them open. Outside there were small two people tables just right on the sidewalk, lined by a fence on the outside. That's where we sat. The sun was heavenly, and we had a lot of fun watching all of the different people walking by.

The food there was amazing, too. Mac and cheese to rival Grandma Ruby's (almost ;), and Sam had a super good burger and the best fries.

How handsome is that guy??
Oh, and that shirt? I have the same one. I wore it the day before, and he carefully planned it, so we wouldn't be matching... Lame!!

See that cool building? Church?

 The Welch Couple

Before the crazy fancy luncheon that was delicious.

We had the AC on a lot of the weekend. Woohoo Denver!!

We got to hang out with these sweet boys on our way back too. So fun to hang out with them and their parentals. Love them!

Yummy Valentine cupcakes that I made that weekend after we were home. Mmmmm. Raspberry-filled chocolate. Breakfast for a week!!

Three of my best friends left on missions over the past month.
Josie to Santiago, Chile by way of the Mexico CCM (MTC) on January 27
Lauren to San Fernando, California by way of the Mexico CCM (MTC) on February 17
Kierstyn to Indianapolis, Indiana by way of the Provo MTC on February 24
I'm so excited for them and hoping 18 months goes quickly!

Valentines flowers from my sweetheart :)

Yummy triple chocolate cake Sam made. He's been quite the baker lately.

And the one photo we have from our Chopped date night. We had an hour, and he had to made a dessert and I had to make a dinner. The kicker was that he had to use peaches, bacon, tortillas, and something else I can't remember haha. I had to use chicken, potatoes, sprite, and gummy bears. So I made Gator Jacks style french fries and "breaded" baked chicken (it didn't work so well :), and Sam made breakfast burritos (according to him, dessert is just a side dish...) and some fabulous cake. It was white cake with the peaches blended in, and it had whipped cream for frosting. It was perfect. (Need I even say it?? ;) Breakfast for week!!

And that, my friends, has been the majority of our year so far!
Love,
Tellese
